Lenze’s drive partner in the Lebanon, I.Network Automation, has used Lenze smd inverters to control two custom- designed 10m diameter rotating platforms, each of 5- tons load capacity, to allow for the daily live transmission of iL Maestro – a popular Middle Eastern TV programme - during the Holy Month of Ramadan 2009.

I.Network automation provided a complete solution for the project, which was designed to exact customer specification and delivered in record time. The project included engineering for the platforms – two 5- ton customised modular mechanical structural assemblies of 10m diameter, each driven by a 2.2kw AC Motor with a variable speed clockwise and anti-clockwise functionality provided by a 4kw SMD drive.

The specification also called for flexible operation with soft start and stop, and adjustable speed and direction of rotation, all of which were provided by the SMD variable speed drive. In addition, the platforms had to be simple to operate, a requirement that provided by a 3- position selector switch and potentiometer connected to the SMD drive. As well as the platforms and drive system I.Network Automation also supplied, as part of its overall responsibility, an offset area and an additional rotating collector for embedded lighting. The result is an open, flexible modular system, greatly appreciated by I.Network’s customer, which allows easy enhancement and modification for future transmissions.
